About

PETITE AMIE_edited.png

Petite Amie is a psychedelic pop-rock band from Mexico City. Driven by curiosity and a shared desire to explore sound, the project began in 2019 as a space to experiment freely with songwriting, textures, and timbres they had not yet heard elsewhere. A series of singles released the following year positioned the band as one of the most compelling emerging acts in the Mexican alternative rock scene. These tracks later became their self-titled debut LP, released in October 2021. In January 2025, the band released their long-anticipated second album, Hay Veces, a ten-track record that moves through love, confusion, disappointment, and the restless impulse to take on the world. Staying true to their ongoing purpose of constantly creating new music, the band is currently at work on their third album.

Petite Amie’s music is defined by delicate yet expressive lead vocals sung in French and Spanish, intertwined with acoustic guitars, enveloping synthesizers, fuzzy guitar leads, and prominent, dynamic drums. Rather than adhering to a single genre, the band moves fluidly within the realm of psychedelic pop-rock, guided by experimentation and a hands-on approach to sound. Their creative process is deeply rooted in a fascination with analog instruments and the possibilities that emerge from playing, layering, and manipulating them. Their influences range from classic acts like The Beatles and Pink Floyd to more contemporary artists such as Air, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Melody’s Echo Chamber, and Crumb.

TRAJECTORY

Thanks to the momentum of their debut album, Petite Amie has steadily built an international presence, connecting with audiences beyond Mexico through both radio presence and live performances. In 2021, the band was selected to showcase at the online edition of South by Southwest (SXSW)—one of the most influential platforms for alternative music worldwide—as well as at Seattle’s Freakout! Festival. Around the same time, iconic Seattle-based station KEXP, widely regarded as one of the most influential listener-supported radio stations in the world, invited the band to perform a live session (WATCH HERE). Interest in Petite Amie has continued to grow in the United States through steady airplay on outlets such as NPR and KCRW, where their self-titled debut album reached No. 2 on the station’s Top 30 chart. This visibility has been further strengthened by their participation in Spotify EQUAL, which featured prominent Mexican female-led projects. In Canada, their second album, Hay Veces, also received strong radio support, reaching Top 4 on CISM’s International Albums chart, eaching Top 4 on CISM’s International Albums chart, a Montreal-based university radio station renowned for its curatorial approach to music.

Over the years, Petite Amie has built a strong international live profile through performances at carefully curated festivals and by being personally selected by international artists to open their shows. The band has shared stages with and opened for acclaimed acts such as L'Impératrice, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Kerala Dust, Nouvelle Vague, and Sugar Candy Mountain, as well as leading Latin American artists such as Girl Ultra and Hello! Seahorse. Petite Amie has toured multiple times across the United States and Canada and has performed at internationally recognized festivals including Les Francofolies de Montréal, Festival d'été de Québec (FEQ), Treefort Music Fest, Otis Mountain Get Down, Festival de la Musique Émergente (FME) and St-Roch XP, as well as Mexico’s most beloved alternative festivals known for their strong curatorial focus, such as Bahidorá and Trópico.

Through this trajectory, Petite Amie has cultivated a growing and dedicated following that extends well beyond any single scene. Their music resonates particularly strongly with fellow musicians, programmers, and curators, who recognize the band for its refined sonic identity, international sensibility, and immersive live performances—qualities that continue to position Petite Amie as a project with a clear artistic voice and an expanding global reach.
